Tips and Etiquette for Good Vibes Hot Yoga

At Good Vibes Hot Yoga, we pride ourselves on providing a calm and centering experience for our community, which is why we created this simple Tips and Etiquette list for you to review.

Please take a moment to read through the list so that your experience and journey can be as amazing as possible.

In order for everyone to get the most out of their practice, we ask 2 things from you...

  1. Stay on your mat and in the room for the entire practice! If you ever feel overwhelmed by the heat, dizzy, nauseous, fatigued, etc., just lay down on your mat. The coolest spot in the room is on the floor and whatever you're feeling will pass. Listen to your body!
  2. No talking... from the minute you enter the room until the minute you leave. This allows everyone around you to enjoy their practice. The instructor will open the door several times throughout practice to let in fresh air. It's not an indication for you to leave the room or strike up a conversation, it's simply letting in fresh air.

Etiquette

Make it part of your yoga practice to arrive early. Getting to class 15 minutes early gives you time to sign in, relax and prepare to practice. Note that doors open 30 minutes prior to any scheduled class.

Yogis are not allowed to start late or leave practice early. This is not only for you, but for the other yogis in the room. Please plan accordingly and find a class that fits your schedule. Make the commitment to yourself and be mindful of others.

Leave your shoes, socks, cell phones and other personal belongings in the cubbies or locker rooms. The only thing you need to bring in the yoga room with you is your water.

Please turn off cell phones before entering the studio! Although we do not allow cell phones or pagers in the yoga room, if they ring while in the hallway or lobby, we can still hear them in the studio.

Fitness watches are allowed in the yoga room to track fitness only. They need to be on silent mode and if it becomes a distraction, you will be asked not to wear it in the room on your next visit.

Bring a mat, long towel and water to class. Make sure you come to class fully hydrated. All items are available for purchase or for rent in our studio.

Wear something you're comfortable moving and sweating in. Clothing that breathes is recommended. Headbands and hand towels are optional.

Practice good hygiene and avoid wearing strong scents.

Keep your gear fresh and clean. From your yoga clothing to your mat and yogitoes, regular cleaning is appreciated.

Writing your name on your mat and/or yogitoes will help you identify it if you lose it or forget it in the studio.

  • Speak in hushed tones before and after class. Be mindful of the volume of your conversations.
  • Savasana is essential to your practice. The final savasana of class is still part of the practice! Please do not start to gather your things or roll up your mats until after you've heard the instructor leave.
  • The most important thing...enjoy yourself and have fun with your yoga practice!
  • Age Requirements

  • At our studio, yogis must be a minimum of 14 years of age if accompanied in class by a parent.
  • Yogis must be a minimum of 16 years of age to practice unaccompanied by parent.
